BIG BRAKING!!! Sahil Tavora joins Portuguese side GDSC Alvareng

Sahil Tavora joins Portuguese side GDSC Alvarenga

The Goan youngster failed to earn playing minutes in the ISL and has now decided to try his luck abroad.
Sahil Tavora became the latest Indian footballer to join a European club as he recently became a part of the Portuguese side GDSC Alvarenga, Goal has learnt.
The Goan winger, who had donned the jerseys of FC Goa and Mumbai City in the recent past, had to be content with bit-part roles as he struggled to break into the first-team. He clocked only 520 minutes in eight games last season for Mumbai City. He was also red-carded in the game against Delhi Dynamos.
Tavora's claim to fame was his performance in the Lusophony Games held in Goa four years back where Goa-India won the Gold Medal based on stellar shows by the likes of Sahil, Albino Gomes, Brandon Fernandes et al.

Editors' Picks

Alvarenga is a third division team and had former East Bengal player Charles de Souza and former Chennai City FC player Marcos in their ranks a couple of years ago.
Over the last few years, a number of Indians have plied their trades for European clubs. While Gurpreet Singh Sandhu's stint with Stabaek is the most talked about one, Tavora's innings is similar to Renedy Singh joining CSKA Sofia or Vitoria de Guimaraes signing Israil Gurung and Tapan Maity.
