China’s Gao Lin: Goal-less draw against India is not a good result
China were shell-shocked as they failed to score against a gritty Indian defence in an international friendly on Saturday.
Guangzhou Evergrande’s winger Gao Lin came close to scoring in the 50th minute when his shot came off the woodwork. China are now without a goal in their last three international matches where they faced Qatar, Bahrain and India.
Lin, who played for the entire duration of the game, rued the missed goal-scoring opportunities against India. He also mentioned that the players followed coach Marcelo Lippi’s instructions to the hilt.
“This is football, sometimes we don't have luck. Players have given their all in this game. We have done what (Marcelo) Lippi asked us to do. 0-0 is not a good result,” he stated in the aftermath of the disappointing result.
"This is a home match where we had lots of supporters. We want to try our best. We had the game under control but we have to reduce our turnovers,” said Lin.
China next face Syria in an international friendly at Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre on October 16.
